In 1999, the Modern Library ranked Brave New World at number 5 on its list of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century. The novel is often compared to George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four (published 1949). Huxley followed this book with a reassessment in essay form, Brave New World Revisited (1958), and with his final novel, Island (1962), the utopian counterpart. Largely set in a futuristic World State, whose citizens are environmentally engineered into an intelligence-based social hierarchy, the novel anticipates huge scientific advancements in reproductive technology, sleep-learning, psychological manipulation and classical conditioning that are combined to make a dystopian society which is challenged by only a single individual: the story's protagonist. ![]() com/images/pdf/classic-hunter/shrew-bows-brace-hight.Brave New World is a dystopian novel by English author Aldous Huxley, written in 1931 and published in 1932. To ensure the most efficient, strong, non-twist limbs possible on all our Shrew Lil Favorite recurve bows we are now building all Shrew Lil Favorite limbs around a center layer of our no-torque Stabil Core material. It’s important for recurve bows with slender fast limbs and narrow limb tips to track perfectly during the draw and during the shot. Once this agreement was made, Henry Bodnik got together with the skilled bowyers at Bodnik Bows and they made some important improvements to the Lil’ Favorite Shrew Recurve. The Lil’ Favorite static recurve hasn’t been available for years, but thanks to the partnership between Henry Bodnik of Bodnik Bows and Ron LaClair, this once popular bow is available again! This minimizes string pinch and allows clean releases and more accurate shooting. ![]() ![]() Another built-in advantage of the “Semi Static Recurve Limbs” is that they act as a lever reducing the angle of string pinch on the archer’s drawing hand! As the limbs are drawn back, the tips act as levers and create a wider angle of the string on the drawing hand. This highly effective limb design was called “Semi Static Recurve Limbs” by Ron LaClair, and when combined with the advantages of the forward grip design, it was possible to make a compact 54″ hunting recurve bow that offered a smooth drawing experience and a powerful cast for archers and bowhunters everywhere. Then, through the years and after some important changes and refinements to the Shrew Stalker, it was re-named the Shrew Lil’ Favorite.įrom its inception, the Lil Favorite recurve with its graceful forward-facing grip, enhanced the natural pointability of this sweet little recurve and allowed for a silky smooth draw and impressive accuracy, especially for such a short and powerful bow. Why not create a recurve limbed version of the coveted Shrew Longbows? This is how the Shrew Stalker recurve bow came to be. Many years ago, when the bowyer John McCullough was building Shrew bows for Ron LaClair, he came up with an excellent idea.
